My Fitness Pal App Smackdown (vanna kelly)
My Fitness Pal App Smackdown
For my Smackdown project, I chose the app MyFitnessPal. This app is designed to help people track their nutrition, exercise, and overall health goals. It has a large food database where you can log meals and see calories, protein, carbs, and fats. You can also set goals, track progress, and connect it with other fitness apps or devices like Fitbits or Apple Watches. I think it is helpful because it makes it easier to see what you are actually eating and how it adds up throughout the day.
In my coursework, MyFitnessPal could be really useful for learning more about nutrition and health habits. For example, if I had a project on diet analysis, I could log a few days of meals to get clear numbers and graphs instead of trying to calculate everything by hand. It’s also a simple way to see patterns, like whether I’m eating enough protein or too much sugar.
Looking ahead to my future career in nursing, MyFitnessPal could also be a helpful tool for patients. Nurses often teach people how to manage their diets for conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease. Having patients log their meals in an app makes it easier to spot unhealthy habits and show them areas to improve. It’s not only practical for my own health, but it’s something I could recommend to others as a way to make lifestyle changes more manageable
