Digital Storytelling Assignment (vanna kelly)

My Digital Stories: A Day in My Life & How I Manage My Workload

For this digital storytelling project, I created two short comic strips using StoryboardThat. The first one is called “A Day in the Life of a Student,” and it shows what a typical day looks like for me as a Health Science student — from getting ready in the morning to studying and trying to stay motivated throughout the day. The second story, “How I Manage My Workload,” focuses on how I balance my responsibilities and stay calm when things start to feel overwhelming. In this one, I used a girl cleaning her house as the main character because it represents how organizing and taking small steps helps me feel more in control when life gets hectic.

#2 How I manage My workload

Creating these stories helped me think about how I handle stress and manage my time as a student. It reminded me that staying organized and keeping a positive mindset makes a big difference, especially when balancing school, work, and personal life. I also realized how creative digital tools like StoryboardThat can be for expressing real experiences in a fun and visual way. Overall, this project made me reflect on my daily habits and appreciate the effort that goes into staying on track — both in school and in life.

#3 Canva Slide Show: Here’s my digital story made with Canva, showing how I’m working toward my goal of becoming a nurse.

#4 Pixton App Comic Image  For this digital story, I used the Pixton comic creator to design a scene that represents how many students feel the night before an important exam. I wanted to capture the mix of stress, exhaustion, and determination that comes with trying to do your best while managing time and anxiety.

In the image, a girl sits surrounded by books and notes, clearly feeling overwhelmed as she prepares for the big test. The background and her facial expression show the pressure students often face. This scene reflects how common it is to feel stressed before exams, but it also shows the effort and dedication that students put into their studies. Creating this comic helped me express an experience that most students can relate to. As a health science major preparing to become a nurse, I know exams will always be part of my journey. This story reminds me that while stress is normal, balance and self-care are just as important for success.

Overall, as a Health Science major hoping to become a nurse, I can see how digital storytelling can also be valuable in the medical field. It is a creative way to share patient experiences, promote health education, and connect with others on a more personal level. Telling stories visually can make health information easier to understand and more meaningful, which is something I hope to use in my future career.
